Does Barack Obama look too good?

Recently a local news reporter asked Barack Obama whether he was too good-looking to relate to working class people. She stated how some think that Obama looks like a male cover model from the magazine “GQ”. Hmm… I don’t think they ever thought this would be the problem.
He goes on to address comments that he is an “elitist”, which is the most bizarre thing to pin on someone who was raised by a single mother and his grandparents, who was a community activist and civil rights lawyer on Chicago’s poor South side, and who has just finished paying off his students loans after working to get into Harvard.

He is the President of the United States. He is supposed to look good. I don’t make much money, but it’s a crucial part to my job to dress up. Someone who didn’t know me would think I have a lot of money, in reality I live check to check.
It is the President’s responsibility to maintain a proper image that represents our country. I would rather have someone too dressed up for a position rather than someone in a wrinkled shirt.

that being said, aside from clinton, obama came up with almost nothing. you can’t name a president in history that worked an after school job as a high school student. believe me, he could still be harassed by the police for DWB. he’s dealt with racism simply because ut’s assumed that he’s black outright; most racists won’t acknowledge his white mom& grandparents. trust me as a black man, he identifies with my experience

What does his background have to do with whether or not he’s connected to the working class? To see whether or not a politician is fighting for the working class you would analyze their policies; all it takes is a glance to see that no mainstream politicians with a chance of winning are.

Especially considering he’s biracial and that his dad is straight from Africa. and not a descendant of slaves. I have this werid theory that that is why Jesse Jackson was so jealous of Barack early on… that aspect of African American experience.

Point is Obama is Ivy league educated and while he has had a modest upbringing, he was never dirt poor like many in the African American Community and does not come from huge disadvantage. I still think he is touch with most Americans being biracial and raised by grandparents and marries to an AA woman from the south-side. His life story does not necessarily represent the average AA male experience, but he overcomes this by relating well with all people, more so than any previous president.
